I don't see how you come to the conclusion that the "group by" has anything to do with your problem. The "group by" only applies to a query portion of your DML. The rollback segment only applies to actual insert/update/deletes you are trying to make. Change your sql into pl/sql and perform commits after a specified number of rows.
