I've got a bit of a problem. I did backups, however incorrect, of oracle data on my machine (at least I was doing backups)...

What I have is the ORADATA directory and the ADMIN directory that contains the init.ora files. I've reinstalled Oracle, but I can't get oracle to read my previous DBF files. The control files that I have backed up are actually pointing at the wrong drive now (yeah I know, should have rebuilt to the same config)...

Anyhow, I need to at least extract the data from the oracle DBF files if not reinstate the database itself... Please help.

Here are the two methods to try
1. mount the database and try to rename all datafile to correct path. open database after rename all file.

2. manually to recreate the controlfile if you know all datafiles.

I think Oracle has tool to extract the data from file.
Hope this is helping.
