How does Oracle 8i personal edition startup from Windows 2000? I've worked with Oracle on UNIX and have to explicitly startup the databases. I installed PE yesterday and see everytime I boot up my pc now the database is up. Is there a specific way it starts, a batch file? If I shutdown the database can I assume all the Oracle processes are terminated? Any good info or links on this would be great, tia - Chad

yeah.
in windows, oracle is installed as a service.
either you can stop service from controlpanel/administrative functions or
do it manually using svrmgrl(servermanager).
