after shutdown immediate was executed ! the database is just sitting there !! doesnt allow any one to connect keeps giving out this ora-01089 error. Been 4 hours !! whats the best thing to do

Hello Warren,
If you can connect through svrmgr,
Give a "startup force" command.
Then shutdown the database again with "Shutdown" command. Don't use immediate or abort.
