Hi all,

I tried to create a System DSN through ODBC for Oracle 8. After the initial selections, I was prompted to fill User Name and Server Name.

Where I can get the User Name and Server Name?

I am using Oracle 8 Enterprise Edition running on Widows 2000.
The UserName and Password for log in to Oralce is the default : scott and tiger.

Can I put the same username while creating the above System DSN?
Then what about Server Name?

Actually, I want to use this DSN for connecting Oracle Database through VB
I am a beginner in Oracle.

Your help and support would be appreciated.

Regards,

Ibrahim

I think you are to input the Data Source Name: as the name of the database to connect to

User Name:the user name for that database
Password:Password for that database

Before doing all these, you should have configured (net8 easy config) tns to point to the particular database.
