time has come for first 'patch' from 8.1.7 to 8.1.7.3.0.

how is the patch installed. all instances on box have to be down? how long should i plan for. This is a AIX platform upgrade. any general tips/infor for patch install appreciated.

Each patch will have an installtion guide and release notes. This will give you all the info you need.
