Is oracle for linux or any other OS free? If so could someone give me the specific flavor/vesion of OS?

You can download it for free for test purpose, but you will have no support/patches ...

There are no free things in life.

Even if Linux is open source and free to use, Oracle RDBMS and rest of the Orafcle products require valid license to be purchased, before used in production.

However, you can download it and develop software with it, but not for sale or any commercial use.
