When I instlled Oracle 8i, the system configuration was PIV, 256 RAM etc., and correspondingly, oracle 8i is installed with default SGA configuration...

Later on, I plugged new memory and now, I have have 1 GB memory in the machine. Now, I want to reallocate the memory in SGA, PGA and UGA.

What's the procedure I should take without failure in oracle 8i?

Shutdown the database. Go to the parameter file of the database & change the size of parameters(like db_cache_size, java_pool_size,large_pool_size, log_buffer,shared_pool_size for SGA)& the rest one for PGA & UGA.
Then start the insstance & open the db.
U can also use Oracle Enterprise Manager to change the parameters.

Regards,
Sachin
