Hi, I have successfully installed Oracle 9i on Red Hat Linux 9. After installing my system crash because of power failure.

when I login to oracle as

# su - oracle - it gives me
-bash-2.xx $ - now when i type
$ sqlplus - it gives me
bash:sqlplus: - comand not found

Now tell me how to start SQLPLUS and other tools like DBCA, OEM

Check the value for PATH and ORACLE_HOME. Are they set correctly??

Yes, they were not set. Thanks.

But, everytime when I login as user oracle, i have to set these env variables. I know that i can set these variables in a profile file, but where is that file located.

1. Login as Oracle user

2. Go to the home directory if not there
$cd $HOME


3. Use the following command
$ls -la

This will list the hidden files and a .profile file also.

4. Edit that file , save it, log off and log in again.

Note: Read some proper installation document so that you don't face this trouble further..

hi Sinpal

can you please give me the 9i version to install on oracle RHEL as i had the same problem. and couldnt fix it.

or, if you can send me the steps from whr u found problem n solution, in installation.
