Why oracle 10g is not certified for RHEL 5?
I installed RHEL 5 and try to install oracle 10.2.0.1 but it failed.
I can install it by editing some OS files but is it safe to use 10g
on RHEL 5?

Maybe they found nobody to make the tests and certify it.
Maybe it is not certified because is just does not work.
Maybe it is not Oracle priority to make it work on this OS.
Maybe you should write to Oracle to know the reason.

You Can install Oracle 10.2.0.1 on RHEL 5 . You need to change one oracle installation file.

Ofcourse i can.
Just change the /etc/redhat-release to supported version and oracle won't complain but my question was why?

Oracle10gR2 (10.2) was released before RHEL5, so the base installation media does not make provision for installing on RHEL5.

you need not to /etc/redhat-release .
